Everything lives in a project, named in the top left: double-click the name to change it. New starts an empty one, Open lists the rest. Each is stored separately in this browser, so switching does not disturb the others. Settings sets the resolution and frame rate of what you export.
Drop video or audio files anywhere on the page, or press + in the Sources panel. Audio is a source like any other: it gets a waveform instead of a filmstrip, and it can be clipped and put on the sequence, where it plays over black. Everything stays on your machine: nothing is uploaded, and the project is saved in this browser so it is still here when you come back.
Scrub to the start of a moment and press C. Scrub to the end and press C again to keep it as a clip; Esc cancels. The selection follows the playhead while you are marking, so you see the clip you are about to make. I and O are still there for adjusting a range by hand.
A clip is only a reference to a start and end time in its source, so making one costs nothing and deletes nothing. Click a clip to select it and type exact times into the boxes that appear, or drag the handles on the filmstrip. Every clip on the current source shows as a band along the bottom of the filmstrip.
Double-click any name to rename it: a source, a clip, or an item on the sequence. Enter keeps it, Esc puts it back.
Clips are cut from a source, so the marking controls only work while the viewer is showing one. Trying to mark while the sequence is showing says so rather than quietly cutting from whichever source happens to be selected.
One viewer shows one of two things, and the badge in its corner says which. Touch the filmstrip and it shows the source; touch the sequence track and it shows the sequence. Whichever is showing is what the play button plays, and the active area is outlined so you can see at a glance where you are.
The sequence track has a small handle before the first clip, after the last, and between each pair. Click one and the left panel switches to Effects, where you can fade the sequence up from black, fade it out, or dip a cut to black and back. The slider sets how long it takes.
Every one of these works by darkening the picture that is already being drawn, so the preview shows exactly what the file will.
+ Audio adds an audio track under the picture. Audio tracks work exactly like the video one: items sit end to end from the start, in the order you put them, and they play underneath. Only their sound is used, so dropping a video on one takes its audio and leaves its picture alone.
Drag clips or whole sources onto the Sequence track to assemble them, and drag them within the track to reorder. The strip above the items is a scrubber: drag it to move through the whole sequence, across the cuts. Position comes from order, so there are never gaps to tidy up. Clicking an item jumps the preview to its first frame and switches the viewer to it. Exporting while the sequence is showing renders the whole thing to one MP4 at the first item's dimensions, letterboxing anything shaped differently.
The controls sit over the picture: play, the speed, and the speaker. Dragging the filmstrip plays a short grain at the playhead so you can hear where you are, and M mutes everything.
Speeds from 0.25× to 4× affect the preview only, never the export. Sound follows the speed, which shifts its pitch: keeping the pitch would need time-stretching that browsers do not provide.
The music bed plays under the sequence and is mixed into the exported file at whatever level you set, trimmed to the sequence length. Drop a file, or drag a source, onto the waveform lane under the sequence to set it.
The sequence is the finished edit, so once anything is on it Export renders the whole sequence, whichever of the two you happen to be watching. With an empty sequence it renders the marked range instead. The button always says which. Both come out as an MP4 with audio at whatever Settings asks for. Encoding runs on your GPU, so it is usually several times faster than the result is long, and the preview speed never affects it.
While a render runs the header becomes a progress bar and the button becomes Cancel; Esc stops it too. Everything else is held still, because an edit made halfway through would apply to a project the render has already read past.

Anything shaped differently is letterboxed into it, never stretched.
Matching the source keeps every frame exactly where it was, which is usually what you want. Pick a rate only when something downstream needs one.
